The Qur’an in its own words – Surah 5 Al-Mā’idah (The Table Spread)

As I make my way through the Qur’an I’m picking out verses that reveal the differences between Islamic beliefs and the Hebrew/ Christian scriptures.  Here are some examples from my latest readings:

On Messengers of God Following the New Testament:

Qur’an 5:15:  O people of the Book! There hath come to you our Messenger, revealing to you much that ye used to hide in the Book

Qur’an 5:19:   Our Messenger has already come to you making things evident to you, upon an interval between the Messengers

Bible, Gal 1:9:  If any man is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, he is to be accursed!

On Reconciliation of the Enemies of God:

Qur’an 5:33:  Indeed, the penalty for those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and strive upon earth to cause corruption is none but that they be killed or crucified or that their hands and feet be cut off from opposite sides or that they be exiled from the land.

Bible, 1 Pet 2:24:  He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed.

On Recompense for Crime:

Qur’an 5:38:  As to the thief, Male or female, cut off his or her hands: a punishment by way of example, from Allah, for their crime

Qur’an 5:45:  And We prescribed to them in it that life is for life, and eye for eye, and nose for nose, and ear for ear, and tooth for tooth

Bible, Matt 5:38-39:  You have heard that it was said, ‘AN EYE FOR AN EYE, AND A TOOTH FOR A TOOTH.But I say to you, do not resist an evil person; but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also.

On Predestination and God’s Will:

Qur’an 5:41:  And whomever Allah subjects to temptation, then you will never possess for him anything against Allah. Those are they whose hearts Allah is not willing to purify; for them is disgrace in the present life, and in the Hereafter they will have a tremendous torment.

On the Treatment of Jews and Christians:

Qur’an 5:51:  O you who believe! do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends

Qur’an 5:82:  You will surely find the most intense of the people in animosity toward the believers to be the Jews and those who associate others with Allah

Bible, Luke 6:35:  But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men.

On Reaching the Lost:

Qur’an 5:68:  That which has been revealed to you from your Lord will surely increase many of them in transgression and disbelief. So do not grieve over the disbelieving people.

Bible, Romans 9:2.3:  I have great sorrow and unceasing grief in my heart. For I could wish that I myself were accursed, separated from Christ for the sake of my brethren

On the Trinity:

Qur’an 5:73:  They do blaspheme who say: Allah is one of three in a Trinity: for there is no god except One Allah.

Bible, 1 John 2:23, 5:6:  Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father; the one who confesses the Son has the Father also… It is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.

On the Deity of Christ:

Qur’an  5:75:  Christ the son of Mary was no more than a messenger; many were the messengers that passed away before him.

John 1:1, 2, 14:  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was in the beginning with God… And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

There are a great deal of verses in the Qur’an that are nothing other than a polemic against Yahweh, the God revealed in the Bible, and His son Yeshua – His character is distorted, His words are twisted, His ways are muddied.   The very purpose of the Qur’an seems to be to question God, reminding one of the serpent in the garden of Eden who asked Eve “Indeed, has God said… ?”

  1. Abdullah says:

This Article is so comprehensive about Islam on christian beliefs and how much Muslims hate the Christians.

But it is very interesting to see in the real world that the Muslims who actually hate the Christians respect Jesus as a Messenger of God where as the Jews who actually love the Christians call Jesus as a son of ******. No matter how the Christians call Jesus, the Jews will always call him the son of ******.
Then who is the real enemy to Jesus according to the scriptures of Christianity?

And you have given a verse in Quran showing half and concealing half. Check that below the verse 5:82 of Quran says

You will find the Jews and idolaters most excessive in hatred of those who believe; and the closest in love to the faithful are the people who say: “We are the followers of Christ,” because there are priests and monks among them, and they are not arrogant.
    (Quran – 5:82).

This verse itself is enough to show who you are. You can be a Jew or a Zionist Christian(who is also a Jew) and you are a bigot. If you are not a bigot you should have displayed the whole verse rather than making it partly, thereby changing its meaning according to your opinion. Now look from this context why God is so angry about the Jews, who are mostly (not everyone) bigots.

    • Kurt J. says:

I don’t see what difference it makes to quote part or all of 5:82; my point was that the Bible tells us to love our enemies and the Qur’an tells Muslims to not be friends with Jews or Christians. This pattern occurs over and over in the Qur’an; I am only looking at verses in Surah 5 in this article; Surah 4:144 says the same sort of thing, as do many others.

In fact, you said the same thing yourself – “in the real world (its) the Muslims who actually hate the Christians”; at least you are being consistent, for this is what the Qur’an teaches.

The God of the Bible is not like that – through Yeshua His Son He taught us to love our enemies, like Mishael said. He said we are to treat others like we would want to be treated. Do you prefer to be loved or hated? Respected or disrespected? Do you like people to consider your feelings, or ignore them?

We are to do good even to those who don’t do good to us. The command is not ‘to treat others how they treat us’, but ‘treat others how we want to be treated.’

Come over to the God who created you, loves you, has the means to completely forgive your every sin, and will fill you with His loving and peaceful Holy Spirit.

        Thanks for your reply brother.

Have you ever come across the below verse in Quran –

The good deed and the evil deed are not equal. Repel the evil deed with a better good deed. So that your greatest enemy can become your closest friend. (Quran-41:34)

Any sane person can understand its meaning, whether it spreads love or hatred.

And have you ever come across the below verse in Bible –

But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me. (Luke 19:27)

What does it mean. To love or to kill the enemies who don’t abide to Jesus (Peace be upon him)? So what would you call Jesus now. A warmonger, an arrogant or an evil person by looking at this verse? Or will you call the Bible a book of evil?

We can’t expect God to behave the way which we wish as good. But it is obligatory for us to behave in the way God wishes, whether it is good or evil according to us. That is what Jesus has said as per the wish of his God. He is a true messenger and slave of God.

May God show you the truth.

Not yet! I’ve only read the first six chapters! But a quick comment – the Bible says all our ‘good works’, or good deeds, are as filthy rags in comparison with the holiness of God, that is why Christians do not believe that good works will get them to Heaven. Only the righteousness of God himself, credited to our account by faith in His provision, can bring salvation. Our deeds have earned death, and a death must be paid for righteousness to be achieved – that is why Yeshua died as “the Lamb of God who came to take away the sins of the world”. Through the Bible, from the very first chapters of Genesis through to the end of Revelation runs a scarlet thread, the story of the sacrifice of God the Son on our behalf.

And have you ever come across the below verse in Bible –

But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me. (Luke 19:27)

Yes, certainly. The context is a parable of Yeshua’s in which He is teaching that ultimately He will reign and in the meantime, He has given us gifts, talents and abilities we are to use to advance His kingdom on earth. Some people did not want to do that, His enemies. When He returns he will slay them “with the sword of His mouth”, which is His word. God created the world by speaking it forth, He will sentence and slay the rebellious likewise with His word.

No where in the entirety of the New Testament does God command us to force conversions or slay anyone. On the other hand Yeshua rebuked Peter for trying to cut the head off the High Priest’s slave (only got his ear). Yeshua said “Put your sword back into its place; for all those who take up the sword shall perish by the sword,” a far cry from the teachings of the Qur’an.

  2. Mishael says:

Anyone who denies the Son denies the Father as well and is an enemy of God, effectively calling Him a liar – whether they are Jew or Muslim or otherwise. But as followers of Jesus, we must still love them. Love is not restricted to friends and family or even neighbors. We must love our enemy as well, for that is what God has done for us: even while we were still His enemies, still dead in sin, He displayed His love for us through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer from sin and death.

  3. Abdullah says:

It was a pleasure that we Muslims believe in the One true God as taught by the greatest of prophets through all ages. They all brought books which had been demoralized by human intervention. The Bible was also not spared of human intervention and it is still in the process of continuous evolving. As a result we have many versions of the Bible today. God has revealed a Final Testament named Quran through a great Prophet named Muhammad.

It says “Allah(God) is the One and Only; Allah, the Eternal, Absolute; He begetteth not, nor is He begotten; And there is none like unto Him.” Quran – 112

We believe Torah and Bible as the word of God revealed to respected prophets like Moses and Jesus. It is also a fact that while all these books have gone adulterated by human, only the Quran is pure in its original form as revealed.

Prophet Muhammad also prophesied the return of Jesus during the end of days and his war with the Dajjal, killing him, and ruling this world with justice till his death. And his rule will be in accordance with the Quran and he will be one among the Muslims and will destroy the cross and he will clear all the doubtful and fake stories produced by early Christian society.

I call you to the truth. Leave all your prejudices and read Quran looking at every verse in its context (like the way you looked at Jesus’ word within its context and not like the way you have quoted the verses of Quran out of context).
You will become a Muslim if God wishes.
Otherwise bear witness that I am a Muslim.
May God show you the truth and give you the heart to accept the truth.
    Assalamualaikum (Peace be upon you)
If you have any doubts please don’t hesitate to continue this thread further brother.

    • Kurt J. says:

The Bible was also not spared of human intervention and it is still in the process of continuous evolving. As a result we have many versions of the Bible today.

An unbiased look at early Biblical manuscripts vs Quranic ones will show that the Bible has far more manuscripts, earlier to their point of origination, showing a consistent reliability as to content and changes. There are many “versions” yes, because they are translations, whether literal or paraphrased, just as with the Qur’an (see But be that as it may, lets see what an eyewitness to Yeshua, Peter, says in 2 Peter:

For we did not follow cleverly devised tales when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of His majesty. For when He received honor and glory from God the Father, such an utterance as this was made to Him by the Majestic Glory, “This is My beloved Son with whom I am well-pleased”— and we ourselves heard this utterance made from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain.

So we have the prophetic word made more sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts. But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.

Whether you think the Bible was changed or not, I see a real difference when I read scripture, Old Testament or New, and when I read the Qur’an. The Qur’an (so far, I admit I’ve only read the first 6 chapters) is a series of disconnected and disjointed verses, many times repetitive, and then jumping from topic to topic. When I read the Word of God, I find stories, logical teachings, prophecies that have been fulfilled (300 alone prophesying the coming of Yeshua to save His people).

I will be happy to continue to engage you, Abdullah, if you would like, but you will not persuade me to leave the lover of my soul, my Yeshua. Salvation in Him is eternally secure. I have been adopted as a Son of God. You can be too. The invitation is to all – whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

      • Abdullah says:

        Dear Kurt,

There are different translations of the Quran in English. But there is no difference in its meanings. And the original text is the same in Arabic as it is revealed to Prophet Muhammad.

Same is not with the case of the different Bibles of the present day(KJV, NIV, ESV, REB, etc). It differs between one another in meanings itself in certain verses (I am not an expert in this regard, I too am examining these differences now only, though I’ve heard about it before). But as you said human errors are unavoidable. But when it comes to the Book of God, these errors cannot be accepted. The Quran is the final word of God and God says that he will preserve its original form till the day of judgement. Hence the Quran is in its original form even after 1400 years.

Indeed, it is We who sent down the message [i.e., the Quran],
and indeed, We will be its guardian. (Quran 15:9)

Regarding your doubt on “The Qur’an is a series of disconnected and disjointed verses, many times repetitive, and then jumping from topic to topic.”
The Quran gives an answer for this

“And it is a Quran which We have separated [by intervals] so that you might recite it to the people over a prolonged period. And We have sent it down progressively.

Say to them Muhammad, “Believe in it or do not believe.”
Indeed, those who were given knowledge before it (among the people of scriptures) – when it is recited to them, they fall upon their faces in prostration,
And they say, “Exalted is our Lord! Indeed, the promise of our Lord has been fulfilled.”
And they fall upon their faces weeping, and the Quran increases them in humble submission.
Say O Muhammad “Call upon Allah or call upon the Most Merciful, in Whichever name you call – to Him belong the most beautiful names.”
And do not recite too loudly in your prayer or too quietly but seek between that an intermediate way.
And also say, “Praise be to Allah, who has not taken a son and has had no partner in His dominion and has no need of a protector out of weakness; and glorify Him with the great glorification.”
        (Quran 17:106-111)

For being many times repetitive, the Quran says

“Allah has sent down the best statement: a consistent Book wherein is reiteration. The skins shiver therefrom of those who fear their Lord; then their skins and their hearts relax at the remembrance [i.e., mention] of Allah. That is the guidance of Allah by which He guides whom He wills. And one whom Allah leaves astray – for him there is no guide.”(39:23)

How great is God. He knows what people do ask normally and has answered them in His book, The Quran, The Final Testament.

You have mentioned from Bible about the utterance from the heaven “This is My beloved Son with whom I am well-pleased”. But you have missed out what is in the rest of the verses that follows.
According to the Gospel of Luke,

And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased. {3:23} And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was [the son] of Heli, {3:24} Which was [the son] of Matthat, which was [the son] of Levi, which was [the son] of Melchi, which was [the son] of Janna, which was [the son] of Joseph, {3:25} Which was [the son] of Mattathias, which was [the son] of Amos, which was [the son] of Naum, which was [the son] of Esli, which was [the son] of Nagge, {3:26} Which was [the son] of Maath, which was [the son] of Mattathias, which was [the son] of Semei, which was [the son] of Joseph, which was [the son] of Juda,{3:27} Which was [the son] of Joanna, which was [the son] of Rhesa, which was [the son] of Zorobabel, which was [the son] of Salathiel, which was [the son] of Neri, {3:28} Which was [the son] of Melchi, which was [the son] of Addi, which was [the son] of Cosam, which was [the son] of Elmodam, which was [the son] of Er, {3:29} Which was [the son] of Jose, which was [the son] of Eliezer, which was [the son] of Jorim, which was [the son] of Matthat, which was [the son] of Levi, {3:30} Which was [the son] of Simeon, which was [the son] of Juda, which was [the son] of Joseph, which was [the son] of Jonan, which was [the son] of Eliakim, {3:31} Which was [the son] of Melea, which was [the son] of Menan, which was [the son] of Mattatha, which was [the son] of Nathan, which was [the son] of David, {3:32} Which was [the son] of Jesse, which was [the son] of Obed, which was [the son] of Booz, which was [the son] of Salmon, which was [the son] of Naasson, {3:33} Which was [the son] of Aminadab, which was [the son] of Aram, which was [the son] of Esrom, which was [the son] of Phares, which was [the son] of Juda, {3:34} Which was [the son] of Jacob, which was [the son] of Isaac, which was [the son] of Abraham, which was [the son] of Thara, which was [the son] of Nachor, {3:35} Which was [the son] of Saruch, which was [the son] of Ragau, which was [the son] of Phalec, which was [the son] of Heber, which was [the son] of Sala, {3:36} Which was [the son] of Cainan, which was [the son] of Arphaxad, which was [the son] of Sem, which was [the son] of Noe, which was [the son] of Lamech, {3:37} Which was [the son] of Mathusala, which was [the son] of Enoch, which was [the son] of Jared, which was [the son] of Maleleel, which was [the son] of Cainan, {3:38} Which was [the son] of Enos, which was [the son] of Seth, which was [the son] of Adam, which was [the son] of God.
        – Luke(3:22-38)

This is truly from the Bible.
Christians call Jesus the begotten son of God. The Bible calls Jesus as son of God. It also calls Jesus son of Joseph. Also it calls Adam son of God. Though all other names in the above verse are indicated as [son of], Jesus was literally (without braces) meant as son of Joseph. So how can you favorably conclude Jesus only as a begotten son of God. If some elder calls me a son, that doesn’t mean I am his biological son. It means affection. Why this confusion altogether in Christian beliefs. Does God need a son. He does not need anything. Only we, His creations, need Him altogether.

Please follow the below verses in the Quran about Jesus.

“And mention, in the Book about the story of Mary, when she withdrew from her family to a place toward the east. And she was in seclusion from them through a screen. Then We sent to her Our Angel [i.e., Gabriel], and he represented himself to her as a well-proportioned man.
She said, “Indeed, I seek refuge in the Most Merciful from you, [so leave me], if you fear God.”
He said, “I am only the messenger of your Lord to give you [news of] a pure boy [i.e., son].”
She said, “How can I have a boy while no man has touched me and I have not been unchaste?”
He said, “Thus it will be; your Lord says, ‘It is easy for Me, and We will make him a sign to the people and a mercy from Us. And it is a matter decreed already.’ ”
So she conceived him, and she withdrew with him to a remote place. The pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a palm tree. She said, “Oh, I wish I had died before this and I was in oblivion, forgotten.”
But he called her from below her, “Do not grieve; your Lord has provided beneath you a stream. And shake toward you the trunk of the palm tree; it will drop upon you ripe, fresh dates. So eat and drink and be contented. And if you see from among
humanity anyone, say, ‘Indeed, I have vowed upon abstention to the Most Merciful, so I will not speak today to [any] man.’ ”

Then she brought him (Jesus) to her people, carrying him.
They said, “O Mary, you have certainly done a thing unprecedented. O sister [i.e., descendant] of Aaron, your father was not a man of evil, nor was your mother unchaste.”
So she pointed to him (Jesus).
They said, “How can we speak to one who is in the cradle as a child?”
[Jesus] said, “Indeed, I am the servant of Allah. He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet. And He has made me blessed wherever I am and has enjoined upon me prayer and zakkah (obligatory charity) as long as I remain alive. And He made me dutiful to my mother, and He has not made me a wretched tyrant. And peace is on me the day I was born and the day I will die and the day I am raised alive.”
That is Jesus, the son of Mary – the word of truth about which they are in dispute.
It is not [befitting] for Allah to take a son; exalted is He!
When He decrees an affair, He only says to it, “Be,” and it is.
[Jesus said], “And indeed, Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. That is a straight path.”
Then the factions differed [concerning Jesus] from among them, so woe to those who disbelieved – from the scene of a tremendous Day.
How [clearly] they will hear and see on the Day when they come to Us. But the wrongdoers today are in clear error.”
        (Quran – 19:16-36)

During the time of Prophet Muhammad these very same verses made the Christian king Negus of Abyssinia and his ministry of priests to break down into tears approving what the Quran has said about Jesus. He later embraced Islam.

I ask you Kurt and Willard to study in detail with both the Bible and the Quran to find what is the truth. God will directly speak to you and will guide you. I wish I would meet you as my brother in Jannah. May God guide us and save us from Hellfire.

Though all other names in the above verse are indicated as [son of], Jesus was literally (without braces) meant as son of Joseph. So how can you favorably conclude Jesus only as a begotten son of God.

I call Jesus the Son of God because the Word of God, the Bible, calls him that:

Mark 1:1-3: 1 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

2 As it is written in Isaiah the prophet:

Luke 22:70: And they all said, “Are You the Son of God, then?” And He said to them, “ Yes, I am.”

Romans 1:4: 1 Paul, a bond-servant of Christ Jesus, called as an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God, 2 which He promised beforehand through His prophets in the holy Scriptures, 3 concerning His Son, who was born of a descendant of David according to the flesh, 4 who was declared the Son of God with power by the resurrection from the dead, according to the Spirit of holiness, Jesus Christ our Lord…

There are dozens of verses that declare He is the Son of God.

Jesus is the son of Joseph by adoption. He is the son of Mary by birth. Adam is God’s son because he was created by God, as are you and I.

Why this confusion altogether in Christian beliefs. Does God need a son. He does not need anything. Only we, His creations, need Him altogether.

I am not confused. God is as He reveals Himself to be. He has revealed Himself to be one God existing in three persons. I did not make Him this way; this is the way He is intrinsically. Consider this: a single apple is made of (at least) three elements – the skin, the flesh and the seeds. Or the sun: it is a single entity, but consists of light, heat and energy.

The question is not “Does God need a son?” The question is “How has God revealed Himself?” He has taken the form of man to save man from his sins, by doing what man is unable to do: perfectly obey God. Not even Muslims believe Mohammad perfectly obeyed God. God is Holy and just – His holiness demands perfect obedience to His laws, and His justice demands that a price be paid (death) for disobedience.

Here is the choice: will I try to earn God’s favor with my good works, which the Word of God declares as filthy (literally “menstrual”)rags (see Isaiah 64:6), and in the end will result in my death and separation eternally from God in Hell, or will I fall on His mercy, accept His free gift of salvation through Yeshua’s obedience, and inherit eternal life and sonship?

Did you know that God declares us His sons, His children? How amazing is that? How wonderful that we can have a parent-child relationship with our Heavenly Father? We can be adopted into His family? We can be chosen, wanted, desired by God! His love doesn’t give up, but He will not force us, because without our free response to His grace love wouldn’t mean anything. Our God is not only holy, but is gentle like a shepherd tending His flock of lambs. My God is not distant, cold, harsh…He is close, loving, caring. I could go on and on!

Abdullah, you were attracted to this blog because I am doing exactly that. I am reading every word of the Qur’an, front to back. I’m not very far, and I’m not going very fast, but that is my intention. I want to compare the Qur’an with the Bible. You are free to follow along and see what I find the Qur’an saying vs. what the Bible is saying. What would be even better is for you, or any Muslim reading this, to the same. Get a copy of the Bible, or find one online (I like, and read it for yourself, as I am doing with the Qur’an. Let’s actually see what these books are saying.

  4. Willard says:

Good job Kurt – God bless you

  5. Willard says:

Abdullah – I to have read the The Qur’an many years ago and my memory is a bit out dated with my reading of it – but can you tell me or remind if the Qur’an even uses or speaks about God’s love for us – I do not recall the word love ever mentioned in the Qur’an – also I cannot recall if the word if the Prophet Muhammad ever offered forgivess or if Allah forgives muslims for wrongs or failures.

If I missed these points of love and forgivness could you direct me to those Suras that would show me that.

    Salaam and Shokran

    • Abdullah says:

      Salaam Dear Willard,
      Peace be upon you.

I encourage you to read the Quran.
Islam does speak about love of God and prophet Muhammad has spoken widely about the love of God upon His creations(you can get it through Hadhees, which are a collection of prophet’s words and teachings).
Here are some verses from the Quran.

And seek forgiveness of Allah. Indeed, Allah is ever Forgiving and Merciful. (4:106)

And whoever does a wrong or wrongs himself but then seeks forgiveness of Allah will find Allah Forgiving and Merciful.(4:110)

But they who believe in Allah and His messengers and do not discriminate between any of them – to those He is going to give their rewards. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.(4:152)

But whoever repents after his wrongdoing and reforms, indeed, Allah will turn to him in forgiveness. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.(5:39)

Know that Allah is severe in penalty and that Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.(5:98)

Say, [O Muhammad], “If you should love Allah, then follow me, [so] Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.” (3:31)

And a host of other verses also speaks about God’s mercy towards His creations.

  6. Willard says:

Salaam – And thanks for your response – So how does a Muslim receive eternal salvation – how do you get to heaven – what do you have to do – can you ever be 100% certain that you will have eternal life when you die

Christians can because we have a sacrfice the blood of Jesus Christ the perfect lamb – when we / you accept and receive this perfect sacrfice by faith you receive eternal salvation – I have lived in the ME many years and have many muslim friends several have accepted Jesus Crist and their lives have totally become filled with peace and with joy because they now have certainty that when they die they will be in heaven with Jesus Christ

Ro 10:9 That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Ro 10:10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
Ro 10:11 As the Scripture says, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame.”
Ro 10:12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile 5the same Lord is Lord of all n and richly blesses all who call on him,
Ro 10:13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved

  7. Willard says:

Ask yourself why Christianity is growing so fast in Iran. Africa, China and other countries. Also ask yourself why Islam is trying to defeat and stop church growth in the ME. I is the Holy Spirit that is creating this growth and there is nothing that Islam or governments will be able to do to stopt it. This power of the Holy Spirit is a sign of the power of the words and life of Jesus Christ.

Mt 28:18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
Mt 28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
Mt 28:20 and teaching i them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age

This is what John his best friend and disiple said about Christ himself

Jn 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, …….. and the Word was with God, ………… and the Word was God……………Jn 1:2 He was with God in the beginning

  8. Abdullah says:

    Dear Kurt,

You have said “Jesus is the son of Joseph by adoption. He is the son of Mary by birth. Adam is God’s son because he was created by God, as are you and I.”

So Adam is a son of God, I am a son of God, you are a son of God, Jesus is a son of God. If this is the case – I am a human, you are a human, Adam is a human and so Jesus is also a human. I do not worship Adam, who is the son of God. I do not worship myself, the son of God. I do not worship you, the son of God.

Can you give me a single reason when all of us are sons of God and we do not worship anyone for being the sons of God, why Jesus alone should be worshipped as a son of God?
Please give me a reasonable evidence from the bible if it says to worship Jesus, the Christ.

Allah says to you regarding this in the Quran,
“O People of the Scripture, do not exceed limits in your religion beyond the truth and do not follow the inclinations of a people who had gone astray before and misled many and have strayed from the soundness of the way.” (Quran 5: 77)

You have said “God is as He reveals Himself to be. He has revealed Himself to be one God existing in three persons.”

Please quote a single solid verse from the Bible which claims literally that God has told that He, Jesus and the holy spirit are one and the same and should be worshipped together as a single entity. Otherwise I do not find any logic in calling and eating an apple seed to be an apple itself.

You have said “He has taken the form of man to save man from his sins, by doing what man is unable to do: perfectly obey God.”

What is the evidence for this in Bible. Please quote the verse where God explains the reason for Him to be born as a human in this world.

Allah reveals about Himself in the Quran
Say, “Allah is One. Allah, the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is born. Nor is there any equivalent to Him.” (Quran 112:1-4)

Allah says to you regarding Jesus and trinity concept.
O People of the Scripture, do not commit excess in your religion or say about Allah except the truth. The Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, was but a messenger of Allah and His word which He directed to Mary and a soul from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers.
And do not say, Allah is “Three”; it is better for you to refrain from that.
Indeed, Allah is but one God. Exalted is He above having a son.
To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs. (Quran 4: 171)

God is Holy and just – His holiness demands perfect obedience to His laws, and His justice demands that a price be paid (death) for disobedience.
Please quote the verse which explains that God’s justice demands death as a price to be paid for disobedience.

Totally Kurt, the point I am making is what made the Christians to worship Jesus, when there are confusions and no evidence God has asked you to do so according to Bible.
As you said God loves us. You are right. We can have a relationship with God greater in love than that of parent-child relationship, as God’s love is more than what our parents love upon us and that relationship is more closer than a parent-child relationship (unimaginable by human brain in this world as we have limitations in our imaginations).

During the time of the prophet, there was a woman who lost her child. After a long search, the child was finally found and when she found her child, she began to cry, hug and kiss her child with love. During this time, the Prophet Muhammad was observing this and he turned to his companions and said: “Do you think that this mother would throw her child into the fire?” The companions immediately said, “Impossible, don’t you see the love and affection she has for her child O Messenger”
The Prophet then said, “Allah is more merciful to his believing servants than that mother could ever be to her child” (Prophets word in Sahih Bukhari, Volume 8, Book 73, Number 28:)

Kurt, I am having a Bible of King James version and I am looking for a comparative study.

The story of Jesus as revealed in the Quran is more logical than that of Bible which is contradictory and confusing. But don’t misunderstand that I don’t believe the Bible as a book of God. Without believing in it I cannot become a Muslim. That is the honor the Quran gives for the Books before it.

Say, O believers, “We have believed in Allah and what has been revealed to us and what has been revealed to Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the Descendants and what was given to Moses and Jesus and what was given to the prophets from their Lord. We make no
distinction between any of them, and we are Muslims [one who is obedient] to Him.” (Quran 2: 136)

I do believe as the Bible is the book of God. But its current shape was changed with human intervention. It has both the word of God and the word of men. And it is very difficult to separate the word of God in the Bible from the word men has added into the Bible. And that necessitated the descending of Quran, the Final book of God, which was revealed to Prophet Muhammad, the final Messenger of God. Quran regards the Books revealed before it and the Prophets before Muhammad with great respect.

    Allah says in the Quran,
And indeed, there is among them a party who alter the Scripture with their tongues so you may think it is from the Scripture, but it is not from the Scripture. And they say, “This is from Allah,” but it is not from Allah. And they speak untruth about Allah while they know. (Quran 3:78)

The answers to the stories about Jesus that are illogical, confusing and merely man made stories will be cleared on the day of resurrection.

    Allah says in the Quran,
And [beware of the Day] when Allah will say, “O Jesus, Son of Mary, did you say to the people, ‘Take me and my mother as deities besides Allah?’ ”
Jesus will say, “Exalted are You! It was not for me to say that to which I have no right. If I had said it, You would have known it. You know what is within myself, and I do not know what is within Yourself. Indeed, it is You who is Knower of the unseen. I said not to them except what You commanded me – to worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord. And I was a witness over them as long as I was among them; but when You took me up, You were the Observer over them, and You are the Witness over all things.
If You should punish them – indeed they are Your servants; but if You forgive them – indeed it is You who is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.”
Allah will say, “This is the Day when the truthful will benefit from their truthfulness.” For them are gardens [in Paradise] beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever, Allah being pleased with them, and they with Him. That is the great attainment. To Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and whatever is within them. And He is over all things
    competent. (Quran 116:120)

    Dear Kurt,

Why I have quoted more Quran verses in my responses is because the word of God can be more effective than the interpretation of mine when it comes to truth. Also I find answers to your questions in God’s Book, the Quran itself.

Don’t you feel that God is directly speaking to you through these verses of Quran.

Kurt when there are beliefs which are unreasonable to your mind do not suppress your mind with some prejudged answers. Pile up those questions in your mind and search for answers in the book of God. The true book of God will reveal the answers and clarifies your doubts and increases you in faith. That is the sole purpose of the Book of God. It is the sole guidance. It cannot be a set of unexplained mysteries. Hope you will come with more questions regarding this.

Whatever be our act in the name of religion it should be endorsed by the Book of God through His commands explicitly. Otherwise we are following our self desires and our acts will be nullified in the Hereafter.

Thanks for getting involved in the dialogue which our God(who created us), really loves.

May Allah guide us to the truth.

    Peace be upon you.

    • Kurt J. says:

You have written a very long post. I cannot get to it all in one reply. You may or may not have noticed I don’t post that many blogs – maybe one, two or three a month. Its because I don’t have a lot of time. It takes time to respond to such volume. I also wonder how much you are really considering of what I am writing? You seem to be very entrenched in this point of view. I am interested in writing if, and please tell me the truth, if you are open to my responses. Are you?

Hypothetically, if I were writing in response to an Islamic blog, which very frankly I wouldn’t do, and I were asked the same question I just asked you, I would have to honestly say “no.” That’s because I believe the Bible – I have received Yeshua as my savior, God is my father, and the Holy Spirit lives inside me. I am not considering becoming a Muslim, and I will not.

I find it interesting that you have quoted so much of the Bible, and ostensibly want to know the answers to your questions from the Bible. The reason I find it interesting is that according to Muslims, the Bible is corrupted. So even assuming I give you a solid answer to your questions, the Muslim faith offers its adherents the ability to just deny the accuracy of the Bible.

Notice that I have not said your faith, or you Muslims, or your Qur’an. I do not say things like that, and I never will. The reason I won’t say such things is because that system, Islam, is bondage to a lie. The way you get free from a lie is to start to believe the truth. That’s the only way. Jesus said “you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.” The only way to be free is to know and believe the truth.

So until you are willing to listen with an open heart to the truth, I have to say, I’m not that interested in expending time and energy responding to your questions, of which, mind you, there are perfectly good answers. Truthful answers, that will set you free, if you will begin to believe them.

    • Kurt J. says:

I addressed the first part of your reply in my new post here. I will try to get to the rest of your letter as I find some time. I am praying that you have an open heart to God’s word, as we all need to have, all the time.

      Bless you,

  9. Mishael says:

Kurt, excellent testimony. 🙂 May God guide your words.

    • Kurt J. says:

Hope I didn’t disappoint you. I thought about going thru each of Abdullah’s points, and I may start to, tomorrow. I would just like to know if Abdullah is open at all.

  10. Willard says:

I agree with MIshael – may God grant you the words.

Abdullah – You have asked some very good questions and I am confident that Kurt will be able to answer them for you – I will also wait for Kurt reply. The KJV of the bible is a very good bible but it is the old English and maybe a bit harder to understand with the old English. There is a new version of it called the NKJV for New King James Version – using today’s English

I am sure there is also a version in Arabic if that is you mother language or first language, The bible is available in many languages. What language is your mother tongue??

  11. Abdullah says:

    Dear Kurt and Willard,

Normally I don’t reply to blogs by spending much of my time. The reason is that when I ask the question which Ive asked you, rather than replying with proof, people start responding with their hateful replies against Allah (thinking that it is an Islamic deity), Muhammad and the Quran. But I cannot return that to them with the same manner because of my love for Jesus an the Bible.

I do not want to be the one who is cursed.

    Allah says in the Quran,
And [We cursed them] for their disbelief and their saying against Mary a great slander. (Quran 4:156)

And do not insult those they invoke other than Allah, lest they insult Allah in enmity without knowledge. Thus We have made pleasing to every community their deeds. Then to their Lord is their return, and He will inform them about what they used to do. (Quran 6:108)

But you guys are different. Though Willard has gone to some extent of slandering against Muslims and the Muslim rule in the ME, he had not crossed limits. I do neither accept nor deny that as I have never been to ME. But my point is that ME does not follow Islam accurately as the Prophet preached.
It takes much time for me to gather huge replies in the light of Quran and the Bible. Last week I was immersed into this fully after my working hours that I was able to respond. For the past two days I did not even have time to check this blog for updates. And so is everyone Kurt when it comes to time. But that cannot be an excuse for us before God on the Day of Judgement. The question here is faith and we have to establish the truth in the light of Quran and the Bible.

    Allah says in the Quran,
And of the people (of the fire) is he who disputes about Allah without knowledge or guidance or an enlightening book [from Him]. (Quran 22:8)

And say, “Truth has come, and falsehood has perished. Indeed is falsehood, [by nature], ever bound to perish.” (Quran 17:81)

Even when you don’t have time to respond, I hope you will definitely have time to ponder and find the truth. May Allah guide you on this.
Willard thanks for your suggestion regarding NKJV. I would like to engage in a constructive dialogue in this topic of search of Truth in the light of Bible and the Quran. I will respond to you every time after a good analysis of your blogs, whenever time permits InshaAllah (If God wishes).

    Peace be upon you.

    • Willard says:

      Abdullah – Shokran

Thanks for you words – It is not my wish to slander anyone as I believe that we should be able to debate with respect but I too like kurt will also defend my faith that I have in Jesus. Jesus told us that he and the Father are one and he gave his life for me and for you and for all.

Jn 10:25 Jesus answered, “I did tell you, but you do not believe. The miracles I do in my Father’s name speak for me,
Jn 10:26 but you do not believe because you are not my sheep.
Jn 10:27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
Jn 10:28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand.
Jn 10:29 My Father, who has given them to me, a is greater than all 54 ; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.
Jn 10:30 I and the Father are one

1Jn 2:23 No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also

It is my understanding that Islam came into existance about 621 AD +/- What I find strange is that Jesus was at creation with God and the Holy Spirit as the triune God 3 persons one God. He is trough out the Old Testiment he gave his life on the cross yet 400 plus years later Islam claimed him as well. Why did the writers of the Quran take Jesus for their book.

Christians believe that we cannot save ourselves simply because nothing good dwells within us. At least not good enough to please a God so holy that he cannot even look upon sin. That is why he had to send the world Jesus his Son becaue we could not save ourselves by any works we do.

Everyone of us or all mankind is born into sin and the only way out is the perfect sacrfice the blood of Jesus Christ who was and is both man and God. This is a hard concept to understand I agree because human nature is cinvincied that only he can do something to save him or her self. But Jesus tells us otherwise – on his final breath he told the world IT IS FINISHED – there is nothing more that anyone else or the world can do, he did it all he completed the sacrfice for every sin in the world from the beginning of creation. All that we need to do is claim his free gift for eternal life

Jn 19:30 When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit

We are told what it is that we must do and that is believe by faith that Jesus is Lord and King and that his blood sacrfice was and is the price it cost. The gift of salvation is FREE but it was not cheap as it cost Christ his life but he defeated the grave and rose from the dead. The Easter season that we are celibrating this week.

The simplicity of the salvation map is below

Ro 10:9 That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Ro 10:10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
Ro 10:11 As the Scripture says, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame.”

I have a very good Muslim friend and his life was in much turmoil with alchol – gambling – porn and other bad things. He tried everything to break free from all of these enslavments but could not. Than the day came when he could no longer live with himself and he turned to Christ and repented of all of these sins. Immediately he was filled with the holy Spirit and freed from all of these harmful desires and has not touched or been involved with his past sinful life again.

This is the one and only thing that Islam and Christianity have in common with each other and that is person (God) who we call Jesus and you also call Jesus.

I challenge you to ask Jesus to show the real and full Jesus that he is – the real Jesus the Christ and what he has done for you and me –

I remember Abdulla when in 1973 in Dubai I too was in spiritual turmoil – I got down on my kness and told Christ I am sorry for my sins and the Holy Spirit came into my life from that moment on and tears of joy and peace poured into the top of my head for over 8 hours from tat moment on I have had
no doubt that Jesus is exactly who the bible says he is –

You can have the same peace, the same joy, the same promise of eternity as all others who confess his name

Thanks again for talking with us we learn from each other by communicating

  12. Willard says:

Abdullah – I am curious – you said that you may look at a modern english version of the bible – I would like to suggest that if you still are that there are some bibles that have all of the words spoken by Jesus written in red lettering which does help point out the words of Christ much more clearly

  13. Felton says:

You tried to do good the only difference is nothing in the New Testament is the word of God but yet the thoughts and feelings of individuals. Paul wasn’t given a revelation. Paul actually contradicted Jesus. Said by Jesus I come not do away with the law but fulfill. Paul wrote Ephesians 2:15 for the law was put to death when Christ died. But Jesus just said he did not come to do away with the law. Over 10,008 contradictions on the bible and you worry about how the Quran contradicting the bible. Lol. Work on your own book. That’s why God told us not to be friends with Christian and Jews. Your arrogance got you thinking you right. Pay more attention to what Jesus said and not Paul.

  14. Kurt J. says:

Felton, the Law is put to death only when we are “crucified with Christ”, otherwise the Law is in full force. We (humanity) will be judged by it. That’s why faith in Christ’s sacrifice is so important. The Law is good, as Paul says. Moreover he kept the Law perfectly (see Phil 3), but he was not made righteous by it. If we stumble in one point, we are guilty of all, per James.

You are taking your chances, betting on your own righteousness to please God. I am receiving the free gift of salvation that God only can achieve and give.

    • Felton says:

I used to show one of the many contradictions. We as Muslim believe also we only go to heaven through mercy and grace of Allah. But yes your righteous deeds okay apart. In the book of James it read faith without works is dead. Of belief was enough then even the devil would still be in heaven. Even he believes in God. It kills me because the Quran says that Jews and Christians will be accepted into heaven. Me being a former Christian converting over to Islam I’ve encountered more unChrist like Christians. Why is you all try to find fault in my religion. Ask yourself are Christ like. Do you go around preaching what Christ taught or Paul. Because they were not the same. Paul is the vocal leader and symbol of Christianity. If I ask 10 questions right now 8 of your answers would come from Paul where all my answers will come from God

  15. Kurt J. says:

“Christ like”, you’ve got it exactly right. He is our example, we are “little Christs”, or “Christians”. That’s the standard, and of course every one of us falls short.

On the other hand, what is a Muslim to be? Muhammad-like? I would say world-wide Muslims are doing a bang-up job. We have murders, terrorism, rape, slavery and pedophilia galore. Islam is responsible for 10’s of millions of deaths worldwide over the centuries, dwarfing any other single cause. But that is just what is taught in Qur’an and Hadiths, so Muslims are being faithful to their beliefs. The religion is perpetuated thru fear; “love” is a foreign concept to Islam, “submit” Allah the god of Islam says.

If you don’t acknowledge this as true, well there’s no point in further discussion.

    • Felton says:

You want me to acknowledge something. First have you read the Hadith or just parts of it. I was an ordained minister before going to Islam. Major I. History. And history shows that Christian base organizations are responsible for more murders, enslavement, rade than any other. Dating back from Constatine to King James. To Hitler to today’s KKK. Again you yourself are nothing like Christ. I don’t see feeding the homeless. I don’t see trying to he’ll the sick but you writing telling the world what’s wrong with my religion. I can tell a million things with your, but why throw pearls to the swine. Jesus didn’t eat pork. Jesus prayed for his enemies. Jesus washed before praying. Jesus said to worship the father God not him. Difference between me and you is first I know the bible better than you I’m very quite sure of that. Second instead of telling someone what’s wrong with their religion you would try to explain why your religion is better. Islam tells me if there is a religion better and of you can prove it. I should leave Islam. Christianity won’t dare challenge itself to that. Quran gives not faith but also proof. Why you live in a belief system. The problem with belief is you probably believed in the boogey man or Santa Claus and you see they didn’t exist. Now somebody dying for sins making us righteous is believable when the clearly says that we will be judge according and action sin will be asked about on the day of judgement. If my sins are paid for why ask me about them or bring back up. I’m not debating you. Just like for you to stop bashing my religion. I can go on for days about yours. Paul writes Hod is not the one of confusion. Explain the trinity without confusing me

      • Kurt J. says:

You want me to acknowledge something. First have you read the Hadith or just parts of it.

Are the statements taken from Surah 5 and my conclusions true, or not?

Are my charges in my previous reply true? Let’s see:

what is a Muslim to be? Muhammad-like? I would say world-wide Muslims are doing a bang-up job. We have murders…

Quran (2:191) “And slay them wherever ye find them”

Over 20,000 Muslim terrorist attacks since 9/11. How many “Christian Terrorist” attacks? Where do you find Christ or disciples ever teaching us to murder?

        Narrated Abu Huraira:
Allah’s Apostle said, “I have been sent with the shortest expressions bearing the widest meanings, and I have been made victorious with terror, and while I was sleeping, the keys of the treasures of the world were brought to me and put in my hand.” Abu Huraira added: Allah’s Apostle has left the world and now you, people, are bringing out those treasures. (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 4, Book 52, Number 220)

        The Qur’an declares:

Soon shall We cast terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers, for that they joined companions with Allah, for which He had sent no authority: their abode will be the Fire: And evil is the home of the wrong-doers! (3:151)

Remember thy Lord inspired the angels (with the message): “I am with you: give firmness to the Believers: I will instil terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers: smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger-tips off them.” This because they contended against Allah and His Messenger: If any contend against Allah and His Messenger, Allah is strict in punishment. (8:12-13)

Let not the unbelievers think that they can get the better (of the godly): they will never frustrate (them). Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power, including steeds of war, to strike terror into (the hearts of) the enemies, of Allah and your enemies, and others besides, whom ye may not know, but whom Allah doth know. Whatever ye shall spend in the cause of Allah, shall be repaid unto you, and ye shall not be treated unjustly. (8:59-60)

        rape, slavery and pedophilia

And those who no longer expect menstruation among your women – if you doubt, then their period is three months, and [also for] those who have not menstruated. And for those who are pregnant, their term is until they give birth. And whoever fears Allah – He will make for him of his matter ease.

        Ibn Kathir writes regarding 65:4

, “The `Iddah is made up of cleanliness and the menstrual period.” So he divorces her while it is clear that she is pregnant, or he does not due to having sex, or since he does not know if she is pregnant or not. This is why the scholars said that there are two types of divorce, one that conforms to the Sunnah and another innovated. The divorce that conforms to the Sunnah is one where the husband pronounces one divorce to his wife when she is not having her menses and without having had sexual intercourse with her after the menses ended. One could divorce his wife when it is clear that she is pregnant. As for the innovated divorce, it occurs when one divorces his wife when she is having her menses, or after the menses ends, has sexual intercourse with her and then divorces her, even though he does not know if she became pregnant or not. There is a third type of divorce, which is neither a Sunnah nor an innovation where one divorces A YOUNG WIFE WHO HAS NOT BEGUN TO HAVE MENSES, the wife who is beyond the age of having menses, and divorcing one’s wife before the marriage was consummated.

Of course there is the example of Muhammad and Aisha

        And slavery:

“(Show) kindness unto parents, and unto near kindred, and orphans, and the needy, and unto the neighbour who is of kin (unto you) and the neighbour who is not of kin, and the fellow-traveller and the wayfarer and (the slaves) whom your right hands possess.” 4:36
